Our Mission

TDS is committed to promoting theater as a tool for education and has in its repertoire shows and services created specifically to further this aim.
In addition, our website is a testament to our desire to communicate with our audience and provide as much avenues for learning as possible. Where applicable, we give our audience a little insight into a specific production or aspect of theater. We have also created a blog where readers can go to interact with the community and gain first-hand knowledge from practitioners in the theater industry.
Curriculum-Based Shows

Curriculum based shows offer an alternative learning experience to enhance what is taught in the classroom. Providing much more than just a field trip, these shows teach students how to make the most of a visit to the theater.

Show-to-Go

For schools for whom a theater visit is not possible, Theater Down South has Show-to-Go! The service has a selection of interactive performances that average 45 minutes in length and are perfect for primary and elementary aged audiences (through 4th grade). They are traveling shows which may be performed in a school auditorium or multi-purpose venue.
Like our curriculum based shows, these pocket shows include a study guide, a meet-and-greet and, in certain areas, a school visit.
Theater Delivery Service

For schools that would like to put up their own show, Theater Down South provides a comprehensive set of services to guide them every step of the way. From getting the rights to opening night, TDS has it covered. Clients can choose from individual creative services (Directorial, Stage Management, Choreography) to a full complement (Artistic and Production teams).
TDS's first official show under the Theater Delivery Service banner was "Jesus Christ Superstar", which ran during the first week of March 2011.
Workshops
Summer Workshops
The Theater Down South summer workshop was designed to help young performers develop a solid foundation in Basic Acting and Musical Theater. With an educational philosophy that espouses process before product, the workshop's participants are put through exercises and games that help them acquire projected speech, clarity, concentration and quick thinking, and basic improvisation. Their culminating activity gives them the opportunity to show off what they have learned in a live performance.
The intensive 6-week workshops are held regularly at De La Salle Santiago Zobel School in Ayala Alabang and Academy One Music and Dance Center in BF Paranaque. In June 2011, a 5-week summer workshop was held at the Chinese International School Manila in Bonifacio Global City.
Many TDS workshoppers have gone on to be featured in the company's shows and some have since become regular company members.
Customized Shows

Theater Down South offers customized original shows to both corporate and educational institutions. Have a show created to your specifications and themes, and tailor-made to the size you want! An option to include interactive games as part of the presentation is also available. Perfect for seasonal celebrations, parties and other special events!
Companies that have had shows custom-made for them include Kraft Philippines, The Podium, SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia, SM North Edsa, Enchanted Kingdom, and Tribeca.
Resources for Educators
We're passionate about what we do and we want to give our audiences the fullest and the best possible theater experience. Because our shows have an educational thrust, we offer schools who purchase our shows with material they can use in their class. We furnish study guides, hold an open forum with the actors (currently available only for A Midsummer Night's Dream), do post-show photo opportunities for the younger audiences (currently available only for The Princess and the Red Carp), and even visit these schools before the performance date to give the audience a chance to discuss the show with company members!
